The Unified State Labs I of Utah building is an 82,000-square foot facility comprised of a BSL3 (Bio-safety Level 3) suite, organic and inorganic chemistry labs, microbiology labs, radio chemistry, forensic toxicology, administrative offices, and collaborative spaces. Wilkinson Electric was onsite throughout the 18-month project schedule cooperating to the fullest extent with the General Contractor, Owner, and Architect in order to bring the Unified State Labs facility to its successful completion in Dec 2009. The project was recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. for Honorable Mention, Commercial Over $20-million.
Wilkinson Electric was awarded the 2nd and neighboring Unified State Lab Structure located in Taylorsville, UT, which was just recently completed in early 2017 after 16 months of construction. It is just over 97,000-square feet and designed to house facilities for the Utah State Medical Examiner, the Department of Agriculture and Food, and the State Crime Laboratory. The structure features modern safety and engineering features to include biological safety cabinets, externally exhausted fume hoods, negative air pressure labs, interior firing range, bullet recovery tanks, secure vehicle examination bays, open campus processing areas, expanded autopsy body cooler facilities, special procedure autopsy suites, tissue recovery suites, and bio-safety facilities.
